Records of the Four Tipperary Septs

The Four Tipperary Septs is a major work of scholarship and traces the orign of Tipperary’s most prominent family names from before the Norman conquest in 1169 A.D. up to the end of the 17th century. The Ryan’s, or O’Mulryans Dwyers or O’Dwyers, Kennedys or O’Kennedys Mahers or Meaghers, have played a long and prominent part in Tipperary and indeed Irish history. Through emigration as part of the new pages in the history of other septs have written new pages in the history of other Lands and Continents. It is for this reason that the republishing of this book is today so timely and relevant. We are now living in a world divorced in many ways from our past thus the provision of a work like the Septs gives a positive link with that past and its many historic figures.
